Stonehaven on Seafood

Celebrity Chefs, Sporting Stars and Politicians Help Cook Up Something Fishy in Stonehaven

67 exciting contributors have come together to help create a seafood recipe book called Stonehaven On Seafood. The emphasis is on the initials (SOS) as every penny raised by the book will go to Stonehaven's Maritime Rescue Institute

Recipes have been donated by celebrity chefs, personalities, politicians and wellwishers worldwide.  Antony Worrall Thompson kindly agreed to endorse the foreword  and other celebrity chefs who have donated recipes include: Keith Floyd, Ross Burden, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, and Nevin Maguire (who is a Republic of Ireland TV chef with his own restaurant).  Leith's school and Nick Nairn's school also sent recipes as well as local schools and restaurants.

The book will  be launched on Sunday 23 July at Stonehaven's annual Harbour Festival with a stall dedicated to selling the book at a cost of just £6.  The festival kicks off at noon - Northsound's Andy James will compere, River City soap star Joyce Falconer will judge a fancy dress competition at 1pm for youngsters, and demonstrations from the MRI crew and rescue dogs alike will run throughout the afternoon.

A range of recipes are available to suit all palettes, from Crab and Avocado Salsa Pasta to Cullen Skink!

Other contributors to SOS include:
Politicians:
David Davidson
Alex Salmond
Alec Johnstone
Charles Kennedy

Personalities:
Cameron Stout
Marion Macfarlane (Masterchef winner)
John Wilson (TV angler)
Shirley Robertson (double olympic gold medallist in sailing)

MRI also contacted other 'Stonehaven's' around the world for contributions and some lovely stories have emerged.
