Generous Donation for Stonehaven Harbour Festival, August 2007
This year's Stonehaven Harbour Festival managed to raise over £8000 for the
town's Maritime Rescue Institute and brought thousands of people down to the
harbour front. It was a great success due to the generosity and enthusiasm
of local residents and businesses, and viking and celebrity visitors from
further afield! There was even fine weather which is pretty miraculous this
summer.

To seal a great day MRI received a cheque from Apache North Sea Ltd. The
company generously donated £2000 to the Harbour Festival and £2400 towards a
desperately needed new boat trailer. The presentation was made by Phil Rose of Apache and his two children. They were particularly selected to present
this gift because Phil's wife Ditta is one of the MRI crewmembers, on-call 24
hours a day to go out to sea in all conditions. Phil and the family are
clearly doing all they can to keep their mum safe by giving the crew the
where-with-all to buy the appropriate equipment and ensure its upgrade and
maintenance.
MRI's Ann Laing stated that 'donations like this give staff and
volunteers such a boost - not just in terms of the cash received but also
because of the fact that companies like Apache North Sea Ltd appreciate and
recognise the work we do'. |
