Advisor to several l Government Agencies and maritime region safety/security groups internationally.
Ex fishing skipper, joined the RGIT School of Navigation in 1976 to assist the early development of the RGIT Offshore Survival Centre. Established the Offshore Maritime Rescue Project and the Maritime Rescue Section at Stonehaven in 1977. Privatised the Maritime Rescue Section into Maritime Rescue International Limited. He later sold the commercial trading assets of Maritime Rescue International Ltd in 2001.
Founder of the MRI, Hamish McDonald, received an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in June 2008, in recognition of his distinguished role both locally and nationally in maritime safety.
